The Memory of the East shows how memories are a mixture of history and geography, of time and place. The film deals with historical periods experienced by the country, through the four figures representing the Mauritanian community. A Veteran, a teacher of the Koran, a sheep breeder and a retired politician tell their story and their suffering without limits recalling various events, sometimes sweet, and sometimes hard. It also tells the
story of how the Mauritanian capital should have been in the east but it was an impossible decision to make as too many people were involved.
