Hasan Salih Ay

Born in 1982, in Ankara, Turkey. Lives and works in Ankara and Istanbul, Turkey.

Hasan’s prepares his work as a frame of encounters. A true encounter for two or more people who are simultaneously emerging in the same interval of time, so that the viewer might see or feel intuitively the proximity of each encounter, and grasp and recreate their own journeys. One may well make a define the artists works as pieces to communicate and to get in touch with. In this sense, rather than to propose a statement or an explanation of one thing, Hasan’s works are intended to be seen more as an aperture, a gateway, a dispersion leading through and outside of itself.

The work is a video installation composed of mainly two pieces. One is a three dimensional installation made with orange peels. The piece starts hanging from the ceiling and goes on to a glass container filled with water that spreads an intense orange scent into the space. The second is a video piece projected onto the wall through attached orange peels. Video piece with sound displays a continuous contraction and expansion movement of an amorphous shape of orange peels.
