Laura Skocek

Born in 1984 in Amstetten, Austria. Lives and works in Vienna.

She completed her studies in Digital Arts at the University of Applied Arts Vienna in 2009. Fields of activity include the creation of kinetic sculptures, video art and animation, as well as artistic research in cultural anthropology. Her focus lies on the appropriation of new media technologies for artistic interventions.

An intricate web placed over a cot receives impulses from a network of nitinol and steel wires passing through it. The series of arrhythmic stimuli come from data recorded during the phases between sleep and wakefulness.
