NOTTOBE – What remains of Hamlet after budget cuts
Hamlet is a timeless story. Our time is storyless time. In this dynamic performance, the immortal myth of the Prince of Denmark clashes with the Italian artistic and cultural crisis.
William Shakespeare’s longest and most famous play is stripped and condensed by TeatrOnnivoro, leaving only a monologue. From the original three and a half hours, only twenty minutes remain. The words flee, gestures disappear, the bones remain; an ironic fate for a tragedy in which all of the protagonists die.
An immortal text set in a country full of death. Not to be. That is the question.
