Manu Riquelme

Born in 1983 in Murcia, Spain, where he lives and works.

He graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Murcia. In 2005 he joined the Erasmus exchange programme to spent three months studying at the Kingston Upon Hull Art College. He has received many awards mostly involved with comic books. His artwork is also published in newspapers, magazines and his own fanzine called “Qué desidia”. He has written two short films: “You Nunca” and “Greyland” (both are available in Youtube). Actually he’s working in a Master of Arts thesis while he’s doing another one about screenplay and creativity on TV.

Consumatum est is a short story that have won the 1st prize of the last Creajoven’s edition which is an annual contest dedicated to promote young artists in Murcia. The plot is about a frustrated writer who kills himself and comes back from the dead to introduce us into how to commit suicide. He talks about life and death, love and religion with a black sense of humor in the tradition of Chuck Palahniuk’s novels.
